Sierra Lobo, Offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Full Life Cycle Systems Engineering for Low Production of Aerospace Systems, and Development of Advanced Technologies. We develop products related to Cryogenic Infrastructure, Cryogenic Fluid Management Systems, Optomechanical Systems, electrical and mechanical GSE, and flight electronics. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and many aerospace primes.

 

Space Flight Systems Development and Operations Contract (SpaceDOC III) contract located at NASA's Glenn Research Center.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

NASA Glenn Research Center, under the SpaceDOC-III contract, is seeking Junior Electrical Engineer with 5-10 years’ experience in electrical power design, management and/or distribution or other related systems to support wind tunnel test facility refurbishment.

 

Typical Functions:

  1. Adhere to all applicable Company, Customer and Industry safety standards and practices.
  2. Experience with Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA) layout and associated tools (Altium preferred).
  3. Interaction and updates with Integrated Project Team (IPT) mechanical and electrical leads.
  4. Interaction with technicians in providing technical support.
  5. Support design narratives, system drawings, technical studies, and reports as required.
  6. Use planning, analytical and product design software tools such as AutoCAD electrical, MS Project, MS Excel and MS Word
  7. Provide electrical design inputs in support of project schedules.
  8. Assist in the development of new electrical distribution and process systems.
  9. Create and deliver concise technical summary reports to the team.
  10. Prepare and present design reviews for internal and external customers.
  11. Apply best design practices that drive process improvements.
  12. Support the quality of the project deliverables.
  13. Complete assigned projects on time and on budget.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. The successful applicant will possess a BS or higher degree (granted by an ABET-accredited university) in Electrical Engineering or a sufficiently-relevant Engineering discipline and have eight (8) or more years of verifiable work experience. Sufficiently relevant co-operative education or internship experience may be credited towards this requirement.
  2. Specialized knowledge and experience within one or more of the following disciplines: Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Power Engineering, High Voltage Engineering, RF Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Systems Engineering.
  3. Demonstrable knowledge of general-purpose software tools such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point is required. Additional knowledge of several field-specific software tools such as SPICE-based circuit modeling tools, Altium Designer, LabVIEW, Eclipse, Thermal Desktop, PTC Creo, MS Project and others is required.  The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with both industry-standard ECAD and industry-standard MCAD software tools.
  4. Experience in prototype-grade soldering, PCB assembly and other hands-on skills associated with electronics development is required. An understanding of the requirements of typical ESD Control Programs and a willingness and ability to meet those requirements is mandatory.  A demonstration of through-hole soldering ability, SMT soldering ability, and other general electronics lab skills will be required.  The ideal candidate will have current or recent JPL or IPC certifications in one or more of these skills.
  5. Basic understanding of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) is required. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of electrical system design requirements applicable to the Hazardous Areas found in test facilities.
  6. Space industry experience desired including familiarity with EEE-INST-002 ‘Instructions for EEE Parts Selection, Screening, Qualification, and Derating’, and Worst-Case Analysis (WCA) assessment methods.
  7. Knowledge of microprocessor and/or FPGA/PLD code development, deployment and verification desired as well as related electrical analyses (i.e. FPGA static timing analyses)
  8. Prior experience managing a product team from inception to delivery desired.
  9. US Citizenship required and the ability to qualify (and maintain qualification) for a Secret Clearance is desired.
