Overview

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is searching for an Electronics Technician. 

TFOME is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing engineering and technical services in the areas of aero/space propulsion and power test facilities to NASA Glenn Research Center.

Responsibilities

  1. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  2. Replaces components and wiring of circuits.
  3. Repairs electronic equipment. 
  4. Takes test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers and oscilloscopes.
  5. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits.
  6. Uses judgment in selecting tools, testing instruments, and planning work sequence.

Qualifications

  1. An Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology, or  an equivalent vocational trades program, plus 2 to 4 years of related experience.
  2. Direct knowledge of electrical equipment, electronic sensors that monitor equipment, electronics, multimeters, advanced multimeters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  3. Familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits.
  4. Ability to take test readings using common instruments such as, digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.
  5. Familiarity with basic electrical codes and knowledge of proper use of the NEC Handbook.
  6. Knowledge/experience of one or more aspects related to Data Systems/Computer Engineering. 
  7. Must be self-motivated and a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision.
  9. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of workflow.
  10. Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
