Overview

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is searching for an individual to perform laborer tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.

Responsibilities

  1. Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
  2. Operates common machine tools and hand tools.
  3. Performs general maintenance around the facility.
  4. Stacks materials for storage or binning, collects refuse and salvageable materials, and digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations.
  5. Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances, moves heavy pieces of automotive, and other types of machinery and equipment.
  6. Levels ground using pick, shovels, tampers and rakes, shovels concrete and snow, cleans culverts and ditches, cuts trees and brush, and operates power lawnmowers.

Qualifications

  1. Perform tasks that require little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.
  2. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision.
  3. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of workflow.
  4. Must be self-motivated and a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
