The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the areas of aeropropulsion and space propulsion and power test facilities. TFOME management is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing unique products and services to NASA Glenn. We are currently seeking a Systems Project Engineer candidate to join our Data & Systems team that will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the organization’s information systems. as part of the TFOME contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center.
FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Systems Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the organization’s information systems. This role ensures the effective planning, design, development, testing, and integration of systems infrastructure, including hardware and software components. The Systems Project Engineer provides leadership in requirements management, documentation, system configuration, project execution, and production transitions, while delivering technical support and troubleshooting to maintain operational reliability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Collaborate and engage in engineering activities related to the organization’s information systems.
o Ensure alignment of system design and implementation with organizational goals and standards.
o Plan, design, develop, evaluate, test, and integrate systems infrastructure, including hardware and software.
o Oversee system implementation and ensure seamless integration of new technologies.
o Capture, analyze, and translate customer requirements into technical specifications.
o Define system and product requirements, including mechanical, electrical, and software performance and reliability standards.
o Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to support efficient planning and execution.
o Manage and document system configurations and oversee transitions into production environments.
o Lead and coordinate project planning activities, including scope definition, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
o Manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and organizational objectives.
o Facilitate cross functional communication among engineering, operations, and stakeholder teams to ensure alignment and project transparency.
o Monitor project progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
o Prepare and deliver project status reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for leadership and stakeholders.
o Support budgeting, cost tracking, and procurement activities related to project execution.
Education & Experience:
o Bachelor's degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or 10 years or more of systems engineering experience that includes software, hardware, or network engineering backgrounds.
o Experience in systems engineering, infrastructure design, or IT project management.
Required Skills & Expertise:
o Proven experience in planning, designing, and integrating complex hardware and software systems.
o Understanding of system architecture, configuration management, and production deployment processes.
o Ability to capture and translate customer requirements into actionable technical specifications.
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Strong people skills, to include communication and collaboration abilities.
o Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
