Machinist B

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) in the Technical Services Department.

1. Must be able to display and execute a Safety-First stance with yourself and your coworkers.
2. Must demonstrate the ability to perform basic level machinist tasks to including, but not limited to, read and
interpret complicated blueprints, sketches, and to be able to development sketches from supplied parts if
necessary.
3. Must be capable of performing detailed layout work and all equipment set-ups under limited supervision of more
senior shop personnel or management.
4. Must demonstrate the ability to safely operate saws, lathes, mills, drill presses, and bench grinders and perform
this work within tolerances of +/- .003 of an inch consistently.
5. Must be able to work individually or as a member of a team to accomplish assigned tasks.
6. Must wear appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed and immediately communicate all
safety concerns with management.

1.  Must meet all the requirements for Machinist C (Job Code 4849) and have three (3) additional years of experience
for a total of 5 years of machine shop or applicable trade school experience or a combination of both.
2. Must pass machine part qualification test for Machinist B prior to hire or promotion.
3. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
4. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state).
5. Must pass a physical examination as determined by the WSTF physical examination requirements for the job
classification.
6. Must have basic computer skills.
7. Must be able to meet the requirements for certification, if applicable, as specified in the White Sands Training Database
(WTDB).
