Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

 


This position will be located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) in the Propulsion Department.

This position involves working in the Propulsion Department (Propulsion Test group) providing project and integrated scheduling leadership for complex programs, ensuring alignment with program goals, on-time delivery, and budget compliance. This role involves developing and maintaining integrated project schedules, performing cost and schedule analysis, and collaborating closely with project managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) to meet contract and project requirements.
  • Project management, leadership, and oversight of technical projects of varying size, complexities, and customer requirements. 
    • Apply knowledge of product development planning to establish and control the program schedule baseline; coordinate with multifunctional teams to update status for management decision making on complex programs.
    • Use project scheduling software (Microsoft Project) to plan and gauge progress against the plan. Identifies performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas with the technical (engineering and operations) leads.
    • Works with the program team to develop courses of action and risk mitigation strategies to address performance issues.
    • Perform Schedule risk analyses and works with the department manager to resolve risky schedules, critical path issues and network logic conflicts.
    • Ensure compliance with Earned Value Management (EVM) System requirements.

  • Maintain and report on project health (schedule, budget, and resources) and status to management and customers. 
  • Develop schedules for proposals and new business opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Requires an ABET-accredited Engineering degree: BS degree and three (3) to five (5) years related engineering experience, or MS degree and one (1) to three (3) years of related engineering experience. A BA or BS degree in Business Administration/ Logistics Management is acceptable if candidate has at least three (3) to five (5) years of directly applicable experience in Project administration and project management. 
  • Knowledge of Project Management techniques, including Earned Value Management,  and software such as Microsoft Project is required.
  • Familiarity with flight hardware, engine, or component refurbishment, procedure development to conduct engine or component level processing such as refurbishment, troubleshooting, decontamination, handling of flight-qualified components, support equipment, and pressure vessel system maintenance per NASA requirements is desirable.
  • Project lead experience in varying size of projects, leading a group of engineers and technicians, excellent communication skills with customers and management is required.
  • A strong ability to research and analyze financial data is highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
