Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

 

This position is located at our Milan Ohio facility

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

Junior degreed engineer with 0-5 years experience in aerospace and/or mechanical engineering, hardware design, thermal and/or structural analysis (desired), process piping design, and/or project coordination in an industrial or test environment. Candidate will assist senior engineers and leads/managers in engineering and restoration of critical high-energy test systems within test facilities at NASA Armstrong Test Facility near Sandusky, Ohio. This is an onsite position (NASA ATF and nearby SLI offices) requiring organized and proactive communication with all elements of the project.

  1. TYPICAL FUNCTIONS
  2. Adhere to all applicable Company, Customer and Industry safety standards and practices.
  3. Under the direction of senior engineer(s): review drawings, analyze components, direct technician work, execute and follow the procurement of facility components and hardware, and create documentation to meet test mission requirements of a high-energy hypersonic test system. Systems are custom-engineered mechanical/fluid systems operating near the limits of material and physical capabilities.
  4. Assist senior engineers in the development of Powerpoint and other presentations and regular status reports.
  5. Able to organize multiple tasks with various project leads/management to ensure schedule is maintained.
  6. Interface with project leads/management to support integrated master schedule task status updates.
  7. Assist in maintaining various project rosters and task registers as required.

Qualifications

 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Mechanical and aerospace design capability and knowledge
  2. Experience with analytical structural, thermal CFD or fluid analysis desired
  3. Familiarity with aerospace and/or aerospace related facility projects
  4. Ability to realize designs in solid modeling software a plus
  5. Knowledge of MS Office software required
  1. Comfortable with multi-tasking, seeking solutions independently and strong organizational skills necessary. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  1. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and phone skills.

Ability to hear normal conversation.  One eye (minimum) correctable to 20/20.

Office equipment includes computers (basic excel, PC Data processing), calculators, FAX, copier, scanner, printers.  Personal transportation vehicle
