IT - Application Developer

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position is located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, NM.

• Develop process to analyze user and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, develop system specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design integrated solutions which may include applications, databases and related systems.
• Provide monitoring, and maintenance of designated system(s). Identifying trends or problems.
• Lead the architecture and design of new features and enhancements, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
• Assist with various application driven projects, including upgrades, new implementations, user training.
• Help maintain code quality and organization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner. Identifying trends or problems.

BS/BA or equivalent degree in Business or IT and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript) is essential. 
• Database Management: Knowledge of database technologies and SQL is often required. 
• Software Development Lifecycle: Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) is crucial. 
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to identify and resolve issues. 
• Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are important for collaborating with clients and other team members. 
• UI/UX Design: Familiarity with UI/UX principles can be beneficial, especially for front-end development. 
• Cross-Platform Development: Experience with cross-platform development (e.g., creating applications that run on multiple operating systems). 
• Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
