Overview

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing engineering and technical services in the areas of aero/space propulsion and power test facilities. 

 

The Electrician Apprentice trains under journeyperson level electricians to learn required technical skills to handle work assignments related to the buildup, installation, operation, and maintenance of intricate test packages in a unique research test facility.

Responsibilities

  1. Complete on-the-job training with experienced journeyperson electricians for a total of 8,000 hours in order to complete requirements for the Electrician State of Ohio Apprenticeship Program.
  2. Attend an accredited technical college and successfully complete, or have successfully completed, an approved Electrical technology degree program.
  3. Training will include, but not limited to:  electrical buildup, fabrication, assembly, installation, repair and troubleshooting of electrical facility related equipment and test hardware applications.
  4. Operate electrical equipment and hand/power tools.

 

Qualifications

  1. Complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training as part of the requirements for the TFOME contract and the State of Ohio Apprenticeship Council.
  2. Attend and successfully complete, or have attended and successfully completed, a technical program related to Electrical Technology at an accredited technical college.
  3. Demonstrate competency over the course of the program in order to continue the apprenticeship program and on-going employment.
  4. Follow verbal and written instructions from journeyperson electricians, lead personnel, and engineers.
  5. Self-motivated and team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
