Overview

NASA Johnson Space Center’s satellite facility White Sands Test Facility is seeking a Secretary to join our team supporting our Laboratories Department.  Candidates are expected to work in an engaging, high-energy environment, work independently and as a team, and be self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

 

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Responsibilities

The Secretary is responsible for performing daily office tasks for a department of approximately 80 employees. Tasks include;

  • Maintaining office supply cabinets.
  • Maintaining copier room supplies.
  • Submitting, and following up on, Facilities or IT work requests as repairs/services are required.
  • Supporting department employees by placing purchase requests for needed materials, items, or services.
  • Booking travel (i.e. airfare, hotel, car, conference registrations, etc) for both domestic and international destinations for department travelers.
  • Completing and submitting expense reports for department employees in a timely manner.
  • Compiling monthly Safety Meeting metrics for the department.
  • Assist in monthly tracking of headcount and training status of department employees.
  • Manage a department-level conference room schedule and ensure the conference room is kept orderly and equipped to host occasional customer meetings.
  • Assist in planning and staging of department events such as on-site holiday lunches, or retirement parties.

Qualifications

  • Experience with MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent a minimum of 1 year of work experience (Level 1), or a minimum of 4 years of experience (Level 2) in the field or related field.
  • Experience with international travel is considered a plus.
  • Experience processing expense reports or making procurements is considered a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Secretary will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The Secretary will also have to do some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
