Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

 

This position will be located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility.

Responsibilities

Must be able to develop, fabricate, maintain, operate and troubleshoot structural, fluid and gas test and support systems.  Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operations and maintenance instructions, manufacturer’s manuals, schematics and similar documents.  Must have demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and complete maintenance/testing records as well as the ability to write routine reports and electronic correspondence. Must have demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to investigate, evaluate and solve technical problems. Performs work and maintains work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. Performs additional related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Personnel must have a minimum of two years of directly related experience, or equivalent military school training, or civilian trade school training.
  • Personnel must have demonstrated a high degree of mechanical aptitude and should possess strong working knowledge in hand and power tool usage and common fabrication techniques and basic understanding of technical schematics or drawings.
  • Special physical requirements will be the ability to regularly lift 50lbs. (Occasionally lift 75 lbs.), ability to work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, and be capable of working in respirator and/or totally encapsulating suit (“TES” - ILC Dover, Respirex or other).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a physical examination as determined by the WSTF physical examinations requirements for the job classification.
  • Within one year, must be able to meet requirements for at least one primary work-area, specific qualifications are outlined below. Detailed requirements are noted within the Training Database. (Note that personnel qualification and training requirements may vary due to program support requirements – necessary qualifications will be designated by Section Supervision).
