Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

 

This position will be a full-time position supporting the NASA White Sands Test Facility Laboratories Department Oxygen Systems group.

Responsibilities

Engineer or Scientist sought to support design, build, and testing of oxygen systems within the Materials Components and Testing Department.

  • Conduct of hazardous liquid or gaseous oxygen testing involving a variety of test methods, temperatures, pressures, and test configurations. 
  • Preparation of detailed work instruction documents, including direction and oversight for mechanical technicians in a union environment. 
  • Perform oxygen hazard assessments for on-site and off-site customer oxygen systems.
  • Management of pressure systems to ASME and NASA site specific requirements.  This includes designing and maintaining pressure systems to include flow, pressure, compatibility, and stress calculations to allow for safe personnel operation.
  • Perform assigned project management responsibilities to maintain projects within budget and schedule. 
  • Preparation and presentation of informal and formal briefings to the customer and internal management.

 

Qualifications

Desired skills/experience are;

  • Oxygen systems experience
  • Code application of, ASME, NFPA 2, NFPA 55, other
  • Hazard assessment skills
  • Materials science studies
  • Modeling experiences (HyRAM, CEA, Fluid Mechanical)
  • Basic computational tools (Excel, MathCad, etc.)
  • Labview, or other
  • Specialized software (bibliographic database, research skills, etc.)
  • Project skills: Mgt & planning, team building, etc.

 

Education requirements:

Level 2: BS degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience. 

Level 3: BS degree and a minimum of 5-10 years of experience. 

Masters or PhD is a plus.
