Overview

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is searching for a Drafter.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepares routine drafting projects and drawings of various structures and equipment systems from layouts and sketches.
  2. Assists in planning drafting work and preparing drawing lists to be accomplished in support of specific projects, and coordinates job with lead drafter/designer, engineers, detailers, and checkers.
  3. Consults with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, and drafting standards.  
  4. Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawings produced.
  5. Perform other duties, such as, providing maintenance and control of drawing and assigned documents, providing print searches, and reproducing prints for personnel and contractors.
  6. Exercises independent judgment in reviewing and interpreting design data based on knowledge of the functional/operation requirements.

Qualifications

  1. Typically possesses an associate's degree in a drafting/designing discipline or its equivalent, and at least 4 years of related experience.
  2. Requires understanding in the application of drafting principles (descriptive geometry, free hand lettering, dimensioning, layout, detail, etc.), and a general working knowledge of shop and field erection processes associated with mechanical/structural/electrical/architectural/civil design.
