Overview

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center providesengineering and technical services in the areas of aeropropulsion and space propulsion and power test facilities.  TFOME management is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees.  We specialize in providing unique products and services to NASA Glenn.  We are currently seeking Software Engineer candidates to join our team that will be providing data systems support as part of the TFOME team at the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Responsibilities

  • Continue the development of the new NASA Glenn Research Center large-scale data acquisition system (COBRA) by integrating new and existing code and developing new, innovative methods and data collection/processing techniques which will assist researchers with the analysis of aeronautical and space systems data. 

  • Work alongside NASA and contractor system developers and programmers to integrate NASA-specific requirements into a commercial quality data acquisition system.

  • Develop, test and debug Multi-threaded applications, desktop applications, network distributed services and/or real time embedded systems.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.

     

  2. One (1) year relevant work experience in object-oriented software development, C++/Qt is a plus.

  3. Experience with C++, Object Oriented programming concepts, SOLID principles and developing Graphical User Interfaces is a plus.

  4. Proficiency in developing, testing and debugging Multi-threaded applications.

  5. Knowledgeable in Client/Server Software Development.

  6. Must have a strong background in engineering, physics or a related discipline.

  7. Knowledge of Graphical User Interface development and data acquisition system techniques is a plus.

  8. Experience with Linux and complex system architectures is a plus.

  9. Must be able to work with others. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to quickly integrate into a team environment.

  10. Knowledge of PLC’s, electrical and mechanical process systems and network connectivity would be a plus.
