The Institutional Services for the Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is searching for an individual to perform custodial services for working areas, washrooms, offices, and commercial buildings or other establishments.


Custodians are responsible for:

  1. Cleaning, and keeping in an orderly condition, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  2. Washing windows, door panels, and sills, cleaning and polishing lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, trim, and metalwork, and sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors.
  3. Emptying wastebaskets and transporting trash and waste to the disposal area.
  4. Replenishing supplies, shoveling walk ways, and other duties as required.


This position requires the ability to work while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or in a prone position for extended time periods, and pushing/pulling heavy objects. It may also require working in closely confined spaces, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, sometimes up and down stairways, where lifting devices and hoists are not available, and the ability to use hearing and vision protection.


Custodians work in all types of weather conditions, high and low temperatures, indoors and outdoors, in hot, high humid, dusty, noisy, dirty, and greasy environments, as well as, areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat, and skin while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
