  • Overview

    Provide aerospace systems analysis support to the Systems Analysis Group of the Air Force Research Laboratory, Rocket Propulsion Division (AFRL/RQR). Typical analysis tasks may involve aerospace propulsion, trajectory analysis and optimization, orbital mechanics, fluid dynamics and combustion.


    The employee will participate in analysis of existing and future space-related systems through one or more of the following activities:


      • Trajectory optimization and performance analysis of space launch vehicles and missiles.
      • Re-entry / hypersonic vehicle flight dynamics.
      • Development of trajectory simulations, conceptual and preliminary vehicle analysis, mission effectiveness, and weight & sizing tools and techniques.
      • Promotion of multidisciplinary design optimization in cooperation and support of other technical branches in the Rocket Propulsion Division (Engines, Motors, Combustion Devices, Propellants, Operations, Material Applications, Safety, etc).

    This position is located on the RTES contract located at Edwards Air Force Base.









    • An understanding of engineering simulations, flight dynamics, and vehicle conceptual design is essential and command of the methods, techniques, and software technology in this field is required.
    • Proven ability to use MATLAB or FORTRAN to solve engineering problems required. Familiarity with C or other additional programming languages desirable.
    • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • A good knowledge of the English language is required. 
    • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).




    • Candidates must have a B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
    • 2 – 10 years experience.
    • The candidate must be a US citizen and shall be able to obtain a US security clearance.
