    Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).


    This position is located on the RTES contract located at Edwards Air Force Base.







    Provide tactical missile analysis support to the Systems Analysis Group of the Air Force Research Laboratory, Rocket Propulsion Division (AFRL/RQR). Typical analysis tasks may involve tactical missile propulsion evaluation, trajectory analysis and optimization, and simulation of flight dynamics.


    The employee will participate in analysis of existing and future tactical missiles through one or more of the following activities:


    • Trajectory optimization and performance analysis.
    • Vehicle flight dynamics.
    • Propulsion performance analysis and conceptual design.
    • Development of trajectory simulations, conceptual and preliminary vehicle analysis, mission effectiveness, and weight & sizing tools and techniques.
    • Munitions Directorate / Life Cycle Management Center support, advice, and coordination.




    • An understanding of engineering simulations, such as propulsion analysis, flight dynamics, and motor or missile conceptual design is essential and familiarity with the methods, techniques, and software technology in this field is required.
    • Ability to use MATLAB, FORTRAN, or other programming languages to solve engineering problems highly desirable.
    • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • A good knowledge of the English language is required. 
    • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).




    • Candidates must have a B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
    • 2 – 10 years relevant work experience.
    • The candidate must be a US citizen and shall be able to obtain a US security clearance.
