    Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).


    This position is located on the RTES contract located at Edwards Air Force Base.




    Provide space propulsion flight integration engineering advisory and assistance services to the In-Space Propulsion Branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory, Rocket Propulsion Division (AFRL/RQR). The employee will support the maturation of electric and chemical propulsion systems technologies by advising the development, test planning and execution of flight, vacuum chamber and sub-scale experiments as required. Duties encompasses involvement in hardware/diagnostics development, analysis, system integration, and all necessary operations of in-space propulsion systems as necessary for successful ground and/or on-orbit experiments. This position requires close coordination of multiple teams (including laboratory personnel, industry and other external stakeholders) to understand and effectively address obstacles, both technical and programmatic, which will invariably arise during ground and/or flight experiments. Additional requirements include significant input and advocacy to ensure alignment of national technology development strategies to maximize technology transition. Reporting requirements include development of significant portions of experiment proposals and roadmaps, as well as oral presentations and written materials for internal and external audiences.





    • Experience with ground or flight testing is desirable but not mandatory.
    • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
    • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • A good knowledge of the English language is required. 
    • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).




    • Candidates must have a B.S. degree or higher in a STEM field.
    • 5 years experience in propulsion or related systems integration into spacecraft.
    • The candidate must be a US citizen and shall be able to obtain a US security clearance.
