    The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center providesengineering and technical services in the areas of aeropropulsion and space propulsion and power test facilities.  TFOME management is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees.  We specialize in providing unique products and services to NASA Glenn.  We are currently seeking a Computer Systems Engineer candidates to join our team that will be providing data systems support as part of the TFOME team at the NASA Glenn Research Center.  The Computer Systems Engineer will Design, Develop, Test and De-bug applications and computer networking solutions in support of centralized lab wide data acquisition system; maintain specialized computer and instrumentation system applications for use in NASA Glenn Research Center’s aeronautical and space systems facilities.  

    Responsibilities

    • Work alongside NASA and contractor system developers and programmers to customize applications that will integrate NASA-specific requirements into a new commercial data acquisition system as well as general PC based network and instrumentation systems.

    • Develop, test and debug applications, enforce network standards, provide documentation support and perform application upgrades and modifications as required or requested.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelors in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or 10 years of related experience.

       

    2. Prefer at least three (3) years relevant work experience working directly in broad based networking environments.

    3. Must be capable of interpreting varying requirements and coding applications and network solutions to meet the end need expeditiously and efficiently.

    4. A strong background in engineering, physics or a related discipline will likely provide useful perspective and be considered a plus.

    5. Knowledge of the OpenVMS operating system and Alpha RISC architecture would also be considered a plus.

    6. Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and concepts.

    7. General knowledge or experience with data acquisition system and strategies as they relate to application development and network integration on a systems level.

    8. Must be able to work with others as well as to work autonomously when required.

    9. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) in order to quickly integrate into a team environment.
