    Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

     

    This position is located on the ETIS II contract at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt Maryland.

    Responsibilities

    FUNCTION OF POSITION

     

    Provide technical support to Advance Manufacturing Branch, Manufacturing Engineering group to support the current and planned workload. Personnel shall provide planning, budgetary, contract and systems/program/project management execution functions as dictated by customer needs across the entire product lifecycle. Duties include generating Job Travelers in JobBOSS in response to customer supplied Work Directives and WOAs, obtaining quotes from in-house and external sources for requested services, and closing out jobs when they are complete.
     
    Performs non-routine assignments, and assists in setting group goals and plans to carry them through. Selects and adapts procedures to current assignments with only initial instructions. Receives technical advice when needed and performs under general supervision. May cross-train and/or support all groups or other duties associated within area of assignment as directed by lead personnel or supervision. May direct others while leading tasks or be assigned as an alternate or primary Leader (if qualified) when directed by ETIS II management. Will delegate, manage and monitor assigned tasks.

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Primary duties are independently and with minimal direction in all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering group, planning, budgetary, contract and systems/program/project management.
    2. Overall manufacturing technician’s skill package.
    3. Also must be able to generating Job Travelers in JobBOSS in response to customer supplied Work Directives and WOAs and read, interpret and follow written procedures, simple technical drawings, and other routine tasks as directed by lead personnel or supervision. May also be requested to train entry-level technicians as directed and support fabrication.
    4. May be cross-utilized and cross-trained to support other groups in order to develop overlapping workforce.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Education – Education or years’ experience commensurate with skill level required for position complexity as determined by management.
    2. Must be experienced in planning, budgetary, contract and systems/program/project management.
    3. Have aerospace experience
    4. Have an understanding of Machining Shop processes
    5. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision.
    6. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of work flow.
    7. Must be self-motivated and a "Team Player" with good interpersonal and communication skills.
    8. Must be able to organize time and assignments to prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
    9. Must be capable of passing required physical examinations and successfully completing the following training: hazard communication, personal protective equipment, IT security and other required training or certifications as directed by ETIS II management.
    10. Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Works while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or in a prone position for extended times.
    2. Lifts and carries items up to 35 pounds where lifting devices and hoists are not available.
    3. Ability to use hearing and vision protection and respiratory equipment.

     

    EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASK

    1. Government vehicles.
    2. Desktop computers utilizing Microsoft office suite software including Word and Excel.

     

    CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE

    Regular daily attendance and reporting on time is required to maintain shift effectiveness. Overtime (Holidays, Weekends, and Scheduled & Unscheduled) may be required.
