  • Overview

    The Institutional Services for the Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) II contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Plum Brook Station is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support and leadership in the planning, design, and technical execution of mechanical engineering and technical tasks.

    Responsibilities

    This individual will be responsible for:

    1. Providing technical expertise and guidance in the overall planning and execution of projects in assigned institutional areas, as well as planning, coordination and support of maintenance activities.
    2. Providing overall project management for an assigned project including developing detailed project plans and schedules with task lists, durations and assignment of resources.
    3. Daily coordination with the team, generation of work instructions to the technical staff (via task orders or other approved means), and reporting to contractor and customer management.  
    4. Preparing documentation supporting facility development efforts, specifications, and purchase requisitions for facility hardware.
    5. Support large and small scale institutional projects, including design of mechanical systems and/or hardware, oversight of mechanical hardware fabrication, system and hardware installation, data analysis, specifications, and final report generation.

    Qualifications

    A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in a mechanical engineering discipline is required, plus basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical systems involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and aerodynamics.
