    Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

     

    This position is located on the ETIS II contract at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt Maryland.

    Responsibilities

    FUNCTION OF POSITION

     

    Works under supervision of senior engineers, supervision, and continues to build on skills and abilities in contamination control.
    Will provide contamination control support and resolution of technical issues involving contamination control for manufacturing, integration, test and launch of spacecraft. This support includes review of contamination control plans, cleaning procedures and I&T documentation; performance of cleanliness inspections and surface analysis of spacecraft hardware and witness of various production activities to verify that contamination control requirements are met.  May also perform other duties associated within area of assignment as directed by Lead Personnel or management.

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    1. Ensure cleanliness of ESD laboratories, cleanrooms, flight hardware and non-flight hardware by procedural compliance.
    2. Reporting facility-related problems to management and directly to project customer as they occur accompanied by suggestive corrective action.
    3. Ensures lab compliance as it relates to contamination control initiatives, helps coordinate maintenance activities inside of cleanroom with maintenance and project(s), and ensures overall lab activities are in-line with government customer requirements.
    4. May also perform temporary duties in other areas or other duties associated with area of assignment.

    NATURE OF POSITION CHALLENGES 

    1. Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs or layouts to execute cleanroom related oversight. Contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work with lead technician and management.
    2. Reviews, analyzes and integrates the technical work of others.
    3. Ability to adapt to weekend and holiday support on short notice and extended hours as required.

    SUPERVISOR GUIDANCE

     

    Works under the direct supervision of the contamination control supervisor.

     

    SUPERVISION OF OTHERS 

     

    Does not normally provide direct supervision to others unless assigned as a lead.  Lead personnel are responsible for providing technical direction and organizing workload.

     

    RESOURCES IMPACTED

    Assignments must be completed using available allocated resources in a timely manner to meet project cost and schedule requirements.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Education or years’ experience commensurate with skill level required for complexity as determined by management.
    2. Must have at least a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related field of study.
    3. Must be capable of performing job function related to CC Eng II position.
    4. Must be capable of directing and assigning tasks to CC technicians.
    5. Must possess excellent working knowledge of the contamination control operations.
    6. Capable of providing accurate estimates for Contamination Control related operations to the CC supervisor.
    7. Must be willing to provide technical insight into annual budgeting exercises as related to cleanroom facilities.
    8. Assist maintenance in troubleshooting HVAC equipment, MSX fans, air handlers, etc.
    9. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of work flow.
    10. Must be able to organize time, assignments and properly prioritize effort for maximum effectiveness.
    11. Must be capable of passing required physical examinations and successfully completing assigned training or other required training or certifications as directed by ETIS II management.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Works from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, cranes, boatswain chairs, suspended platforms or cages, etc.
    2. Works while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling or in a prone position for extended times.
    3. Works in closely confined spaces at times.
    4. Lifts and carries items up to 35 pounds.
    5. Ability to use hearing and vision protection and respiratory equipment.
    6. Ability to distinguish eight color panel display.
    7. Ability to work in a full cleanroom garment ensemble when required.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    1. Work indoors and out in high and low temperatures and in all types of weather conditions.
    2. Work in dusty, noisy, hot, high humidity, dirty and greasy environment.
    3. Work in cleanroom(s) wearing appropriate cleanroom ensemble
    4. Work in areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat and skin while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
    5. Work with other personnel in a group that is team-oriented.
    6. Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.

    EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASK

    Desktop computers utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software including Word and Excel.

     

    CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE

     

    Regular daily and timely attendance is required to maintain shift effectiveness.  Overtime (Holidays, Weekends and Scheduled and Unscheduled) and Shift Work may be required.
