    Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).


    This position is located on the RTES contract at Edwards Air Force Base.




    Design laboratory / subscale liquid rocket engine test hardware along with high pressure propellant flow system and test chambers. Duties will include taking hardware concepts from conception to final machine drawings. This position requires an individual that can balance multiple simultaneous efforts and enjoys working on challenging design problems.    


    The employee will participate in the design of rocket test hardware through one or more of the following activities:


    • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop a design concept.
    • Generation of solid models.
    • Structural and thermal analysis of designed parts.
    • Lead design reviews of developed hardware.
    • Work with onsite machinists and external machine shops to improve manufacturability.
    • Creation of final machine drawings.
    • Creation of plumbing and instrumentation diagrams of test facilities.
    • Obtain quotes to produce parts.
    • Coordinate both internal and external part manufacturing.  





    • Proven ability to develop parts using SOLIDWORKS or other 3D CAD packages.
    • Proven ability to conduct structural analysis using finite element analysis.
    • Proven ability to produce final machine drawing with tolerances.
    • Familiarity with high pressure system and rocket propulsion desirable but not necessary – willing to learn.
    • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • A good knowledge of the English language is required. 
    • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).




    • Candidates must have a B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Early to mid-Career Level, 1 – 15 years’ experience.
    • The candidate shall be able to obtain a US security clearance.
