This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, on the AVAL contract.
The Instrumentation Engineering Technician 5 provides technical support to customer-developed wind test articles for use in wind tunnels. The technician will install and maintain instrumentation used in wind tunnel testing, to include pressure, temperature, force, angle, and motion measurements.
The position requires the ability to perform electronic assembly, to include soldering, assembly of prototype circuits, cables, connectors, and other instrumentation. The technician must understand wiring schematics, control systems and relay logic circuits. The technician will select, install, calibrate, and check sensing, telemetering, and recording instrumentation and circuitry. The technician will develop specifications for nonstandard apparatus according to engineering data, characteristics of equipment under test, and capabilities of procurable test apparatus. The technician must be able to select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts. He or she must be able to coordinate team activities to review, analyze and integrate technical work. He or she will analyze drawings and equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design. The technician selects, sets up, and operates electronic instrumentation and related electromechanical or electrohydraulic apparatus used for operational testing of mechanical, structural, or electrical equipment, and translates test data for engineering personnel to formulate engineering design and evaluation decisions
